United States vs Venezuela. Absolutely incredible matchup. I am super stoked for the game and you should be too. Go USA!

But I can’t help but think that this game could be a bit of a letdown. Not because of the matchup. These lineups are two of the best lineups ever assembled. Complete with 5 tool players and outright superstars on both teams. Nobody is going to argue that.

Well, there isn’t any argument after someone throws out the names Acuna, Witt, Judge, etc.

The last two nights have been so energetic and so meaningful to all 4 teams that tonight’s championship is going to have a hard time meeting that standard.

Let’s be real, everybody wanted to see U.S. vs Dominican. Those were the two best teams on paper. That was the world “rivalry” that we wanted to see. Whether it be in the chip or semis.

And it brought us everything we wanted. A pitchers dual that came down to the last pitch. Energy. Passion. It lived up to the hype.

On the other end undefeated Italy entered the game as hot as any team. Venezuela came off of a huge win over Japan. Even just getting to the championship is a huge W for either country. So the energy in the building for that game was Game 7 esque.

I’m not saying that either of those teams wouldn’t care about winning it all. I’m just saying they might be content. Whether the come out and say it or not.

I hope I’m wrong. I hope this game brings all the energy and more. I want drums. I want screaming. And yes I want bat flips to the moon.
